Living a Life of PRAISE

Dwell and Abide

HE WHO [a]dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]
Psalm 91:1

If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
John 15:7

Do you dwell or abide in God? These words mean to remain or stay. To “dwell in the secret place of the Most High” is to be near to God. Often our nearness is only at church or maybe a quiet time. Unfortunately that’s not having fellowship with God. He desires intimacy and on going conversations in our day and night. Its easy to get lost in going through the motions but it grieves the Holy Spirit when we’re not unleashing the power within and most importantly loving Him so much we want to talk with Him and be with Him.

As I have been meditating on these scriptures I’ve noticed a change in my mind and heart which leads to an overflow in my behavior. I want to be stable and fixed and solid but it will never happen if I don’t dwell in the presence of God. I want to see my prayers answered and even more so, be led to pray things that only the Spirit can reveal to me but it will never happen if I don’t abide in God. There is a beauty and peace that comes from a mind fixed on God. There is a oneness that is created to happen when we think as God thinks which will only come from being in His Word. I have had issues come up in my life that in the past would devastate me yet through Gods grace and Word lately I have been able to quickly overcome. There is a belief you must have in what you’re reading or else its just words on a page. The Word is not just a book. There is power and freedom all through it. The words will jump into your spirit and change your mind if you want them to. Then you can begin to dwell and abide and you will be sturdy and what you pray, you will see answered.

Writing scripture on a bathroom mirror or in the car is a wonderful way to be reminded of truths that will set us free. We need to be surrounded by these truths or we’ll begin to listen and believe lies. It should make all of us think twice about the type of music we listen to and the shows we watch. If its not drawing us into the presence of God where there is joy and peace and love and purity, then what is it drawing us to?

Prayer for Today:
God I praise You for wanting to be with us. I praise You for all the promises You give. Don’t let us overlook the importance of believing what Your Word says. May we cling to it and see it unfold. May we praise You all the way through, especially in the unseen. Show us if we’re all talk or if we’re willing to endure and press on for the glory of it all. Change us so we want what You want. May we never be satisfied with anything other than Your ways and will. Holy Spirit may we not make a move without Your leading. Thank You for being real and active and alive in us!

yes! 🙂 awesome as always. Love it. The Word is truly alive! it comes alive in us! 🙂

When I think of abide – I think of “to become part of” …. I think of it like we have to move things over to make room for it. we have to change. the Word will always bring about some sort of change whether it’s in our Spirit, mind and then later to outward things like actions.

    love ya girl! 🙂
